Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's
great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops.
Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters.
(Norman McClean's description of the Blackfoot River in his famous novel/motion picture A River Runs Through It)
A River Runs Through It almost perfectly describes this two story custom remodel on the banks of the Blackfoot River. Locally designed and built in 1991, this home has had extensive updates and has been redesigned to add a magnificent family room, master bedroom, master bathroom, and almost 1000 square feet of redwood deck.
Enter the property and through a very park like atmosphere of Ponderosa Pines and come upon the new acid-stained concrete driveway. The home has a very elegant feel with cedar shake siding and a variety of lovely landscaping. Approaching the home, you are welcomed by a new redesigned entry of slate tile and maple accents. On the ground level, there are three bedrooms, two full baths, a 576 square foot family room with slate borders and French Doors for access to the river. There is also a very clean partial basement that could be easily finished off as a wine cellar/humidor room. One of the main level bedrooms once served as the master which has it's own full bath.
A wonderful slate/maple staircase accented with Walnut invites you upstairs where you will blown away by what seems like views in every direction. What makes this home so unique is the river that runs straight through the middle of this 10 acre estate. This is a famous, beautiful, vibrant Western River with a healthy trout population and multiple recreational opportunities. When this home was being redesigned, the plan was to try and bring the river inside the home or at least as close as possible. The living/great room as moved out giving the additional square footage for a new maple/walnut kitchen complete with walk-in pantry, granite countertops and a string of Viking appliances.
Just off the kitchen we find a newly remodeled half-bath with granite counters and new tile. The new master bedroom is what really sets off the second story. Two separate his and hers closets (with hers being on the side of huge!), a granite bathroom with beautiful new cabinetry, jetted tub, glass wall tile shower, and twin vanities. The bedroom itself is incredible with a gas fireplace and private, walkout slate deck.
